GOSAFE Gun Ban Bill

It’s December 2023, and we have a new rendition of the authoritarian Left’s ongoing attempt to disarm the public, in the “Gas-Operated Semi-Automatic Firearms Exclusion Act” or “GOSAFE” act . The jackasses on Capital Hill insist on using misleading acronyms for their atrocious attempts to legislate every aspect of the human condition. You don’t want to know how many millions of your tax dollars go to marketing consultants just to create the right combination of words that can be reduced to a snappy acronym, which almost always indicates the exact opposite of the proposed law’s true consequences. It is so mind-numbingly pathetic, as if they can fool the public with a generically affirmative poll-tested name.

This “GOSAFE” attack on 2nd amendment-protected rights is purportedly the Democrat answer to the Lewiston, Maine shooting, where federal and local officials once again had plenty of foreknowledge & opportunity to prevent the murders, anyone paying attention knew it was coming, & people in positions of power were warned, but they did absolutely nothing… not even what the law required of them. Now, rather than claim responsibility, administer actual punishment to local and federal officials’ for their failures, and correct government procedural shortcomings, politicians instead seek to punish citizens for the crimes of the mentally ill shooter as well as the ineptitude of government!

Introduced by Maine Senator Anus, oh sorry, Angus King (independent officially but really a flaming leftwing democrat), and Martin Heinrich (D-NM), and co-sponsored by Michael Bennet (D-CO) and the virtue-signaling gun-grabbing premadonna Mark Kelly, who was fraudulently installed in a Senate seat for AZ while the Secretary of State and numerous minions rigged the election for Dementia Joe. Kelly “won” his 2022 reelection with similar shenanigans, three full days after the vote, thanks to miraculously appearing mail-in ballots of indeterminate providence.

According to Angus King’s senate website, “The Gas-Operated Semi-Automatic Firearms Exclusion (GOSAFE) Act, will protect communities from gun violence while safeguarding law-abiding Americans’ constitutional right to own a firearm for legitimate self-defense, hunting and sporting purposes.” How is this different from the 23,000+ existing gun control laws that purportedly “PROTECT” us, but don’t?Murder is already illegal, so why have they and state counterparts passed tens of thousands of additional laws that they claim will stop murder? Why not simply punish murderers according to the law, or make the penalty more severe to discourage killing? That’s a novel idea, huh? And how does banning the majority of guns in existence, criminalizing their possession, use, manufacture and sale “safeguard” our second amendment rights? These arrogant pricks act like leaving the public with revolvers and bolt-guns is a generous gift. As you will see, this bill has nothing to do with public safety- it isn’t designed to reduce murder, but to turn the public into defenseless victims.

The spin and propaganda around this and every gun control bill is sickening, and the media gobbles it up whole and regurgitates it like a trained circus animal. They say these are “common sense” solutions, like always, without explaining how anything will be solved. The senators who are protected by full-auto machine guns claim they are only targeting the “most dangerous features” of guns that can only fire one bullet at a time… they boast they’re going after the “lethal capacity weapons” and operating systems that make the firearms “inherently dangerous and unusually lethal”. Bwa hahaha hahaha, what a load of horse shit!

The “gas-operating system” is just a group of words to say “semi-automatic”. Whether direct impingement, blowback or gas piston operated, they all use the explosive power of firing a round, harnessing the gases thus created to eject the spent cartridge and cycle a new round! What these self-entitled asshats are really saying is they are banning semi-automatics! They are outlawing the operating systems used by the majority of firearms on the planet, and calling them “unusually lethal and dangerous”. Semi-autos are everywhere, ubiquitous, the very opposite of unusual. The entire premise is bullshit.

The AR-15 fires a tiny .223 round; the bullet is the same size as a 22LR. The cartridge of ANY DEER RIFLE your uncle or gramps used is FAR more lethal, does way more damage, and is accurate from a much further distance. There is a reason .223 and 5.56 are only legal to hunt varmints and small game, and larger, heavier rounds must be used for deer, boar, moose, elk, and so forth. A single 5.56 won’t reliably kill a man-sized animal, so it’s inhumane and illegal to hunt them with the small cartridge.

The type of operating system the round is fired from has no discernible impact on lethality. The bullet doesn’t travel any faster, cause more damage, fly further or more accurately because it is fired by a semi-auto as opposed to a bolt gun. So why lie, and claim semi-autos are “inherently lethal”? It is nothing but an excuse to disarm the public using fear tactics to gain compliance.

The bill also bans standard capacity magazines that gun makers designed and manufactured to feed the firearms. The senators arbitrarily decided that no one needs more than 10 rounds in their magazine. Police involved in shootings fire far more than 10 rounds at subjects, according to every study and statistics published when they fire their weapons, but the “esteemed” senators apparently think the public only needs 10? Is it perhaps because police are notoriously bad shots, and miss quite a bit of the time? An 8-year long study showed that NYPD cops missed a whopping 82% of their shots! I don’t know that we should feel honored that these senators deem the public more accurate shooters than police, who carry firearms professionally, knowing how awful they are. Maybe we should require more training for cops, considering their miss rate! You’d think Congress would be concerned about all those stray bullets, wouldn’t you?

Speaking of police, of course there is a carve-out exception for the people who protect these senators, police, as well as government agencies and others holier than thou… just like every gun control bill that infringes unconstitutionally on citizens’ rights while maintaining access to these firearms for the king and his men, aka the feds. These bills put the public at risk, rather than making them safer, by denying the public the ability to defend themselves, which we do between 500,000 and 3,000,000 times each year with our guns, according to CDC and other government data. If a bill like this became law, citizens obeying the law would be unable to defend themselves, and many of those 500,000-3,000,000 incidents would end up with victims injured or dead. The opposite of the STATED INTENT of the law to make communities “safer.”

As if these details aren’t bad enough, these arrogant oath breakers trample the 2nd amendment into the dirt with even more infringements. The bill requires gun manufacturers to submit new gun designs along with marketing materials to the Attorney General along with a fee, for the “privilege” of asking permission to manufacture their gun! With a promise to respond sometime with approval or denial within 240 days! Whatever gave authoritarians the idea they have the power to decide for us what firearms get made and sold?

I’m pretty sure the founders would consider being forced to ask the king or anyone else for permission to build a gun an infringement on the right to keep and bear arms. And requiring an application fee to ask permission is just insult on top of injury.

The bill also redirects tax stamp receipts away from funding the approval process for NFA items, to instead fill a trust fund under the Attorney General’s discretion. Tax stamps are already taking an inordinately long 6-14 months for approval, likely due less to incompetence than to intentional neglect of required duties. Decoupling stamp revenue from the stamp approval process will only make that worse.

The Supreme Court however has already ruled on bans like this, way back in Heller. They stated unequivocally that government may not ban an entire class of firearms from public use. This bill outlaws entire swaths of classes of firearms! It’s the same thing as saying, “we’re not just gonna ban sports cars with fins or low profiles, but every vehicle with a stick shift transmission!”

This bill is unconstitutional in every aspect, and even if enough bribes and kickbacks and promises of lucrative future employment contracts are handed out to buy the votes needed to pass this pile of excrement, the courts will strike it down. But the courts take time, and Leftists may just try to pass this for the inconvenience it will cost, and the temporary criminalizing of our firearms of choice.

The fact these self-entitled assholes proposed it proves they view the public as uneducated, unwashed masses who aren’t intelligent enough to see through their spin, to understand the simple fact that politicians want to disarm the public. They are desperate to disarm the People, before the public uses those arms to remove them and their ilk from power. They’re crooked as a dog’s hind legs, corrupt to the core, and fear a real insurrection designed to expel those who violate their oaths, returning the government to the People, and the limits set by the US Constitution.

Call them, write them, email them, go see them in town halls, and tell them, “hell no! we do NOT give you power to decide what guns we use, and we NEVER will!” Shithead Schumer will likely try to bring it up for a vote, even if it’s just a lame attempt to garner headlines, like he did the first week of December 2023 with a request for “unanimous consent” to vote on Feinstein’s latest iteration of her AR Ban, which predictably failed. Make sure your supposed representative and senators know that their constituents oppose all gun control.

AUTHORITARIANS are gaslighting the public on guns, and trying to restrict your rights:

The Leftists and their minions in the press will all start pushing this new attack on your right to keep and bear arms, pretending bills that ban gas operating systems are not AR bans. They will claim this massive restriction and infringement somehow “protects” your rights! Here is Patty Murray on December 6th after the final attempt to pass Feinstein’s AR and mag ban bill failed:

“Weapons of war have no place on our streets or in our communities. Gun safety laws work—despite what the gun lobby and their Republican allies in Congress would have you believe, this debate is settled. The majority of Americans support banning assault-style weapons, and it’s infuriating to see Republicans once again put the gun lobby ahead of the people they represent by blocking our Assault Weapons Ban today.

“Common-sense gun safety laws save lives—and every time our nation lives through the horror and heartbreak of another mass shooting, we hear desperate pleas from people back home begging Congress to do something. Washington state has made important progress on gun safety laws, including passing an Assault Weapons Ban earlier this year, but state laws alone are insufficient when it’s still so easy to acquire an assault weapon or evade a background check just across the border in a different state.

“Federal action is essential to tackling the epidemic of gun violence head-on, and whether it’s funding research into gun violence prevention, or pushing for universal background checks, or calling for a vote on the Assault Weapons Ban bill like we did today—as long as I’m in Congress, I’ll keep fighting to advance common-sense gun safety measures that will make our communities safer.”

Oh, really, Patty? Well, let’s just take that line by line. and decimate your lies.

“Weapons of war have no place on our streets or in our communities. All firearms are weapons of war, and tools of peace. Your grand dad’s deer rifle was likely used as a sniper rifle in world war one. Every weapon, from knives to guns, is just a tool and can be used for good or evil- the tool isn’t the issue; the wielder determines the outcome.

Gun safety laws work—despite what the gun lobby and their Republican allies in Congress would have you believe, this debate is settled. Really? Which one? Name one, of the 23,000 laws in existence that works, and explain why there are 22,999 others if it works. Why will any new law work better than those in existence? California has all the laws you want to pass federally, yet evil people in California still commit murder and more mass shootings than other states.

The majority of Americans support banning assault-style weapons, and it’s infuriating to see Republicans once again put the gun lobby ahead of the people they represent by blocking our Assault Weapons Ban today. No, we do not support that rubbish. The majority of Americans live in a home with guns, own guns, and have no intention of letting you tell us what kind you think we should own. We the People are the “gun lobby” you fear and despise. That is okay, we don’t much care for you, either. Frankly, you disgust us, to be honest. For every poll that says a majority want a ban, back to your gaslighting, there is one that says they don’t. More importantly, polls do not matter. The Constitution and Bill of Rights prohibit any gun ban, as the Supreme Court has said repeatedly. Congress has no authority to ban any class of firearm that citizens lawfully use, and the AR-15 is the most popular rifle in the country, more ubiquitous than Ford Rangers.

“Common-sense gun safety laws save lives—and every time our nation lives through the horror and heartbreak of another mass shooting, we hear desperate pleas from people back home begging Congress to do something. People want Congress to do Something that works, not illegally disarm law abiding citizens, turning them into defenseless victims in waiting, while doing nothing to stop or disarm the sick, evil criminals. Mass shootings are exceedingly rare, but get a lot of media attention, even though less than 100 people die annually from mass shootings. AR-15’s and all other rifles combined are used in less than 400 murders per year. Pistols on the other hand, are used in over 9,000 murders per year. And in most mass shootings. So why are you and yours so focused on AR-15’s, Patty? Why not go after pistols, which kill over twenty times as many people annually?

Washington state has made important progress on gun safety laws, including passing an Assault Weapons Ban earlier this year, but state laws alone are insufficient when it’s still so easy to acquire an assault weapon or evade a background check just across the border in a different state. Bullshit, Patty! Those killers aren’t going across state lines. They get their guns within each state the majority of the time, either passing the worthless background checks (which only flags past crimes if inept government workers actually do their jobs, and can never predict future crime), or they steal the gun from someone. Look at all the California mass shooters, who got their guns in California, despite universal background checks and unconstitutional magazine and AR bans. The deadliest school shooting for decades was carried out with a couple Glock pistols and a backpack full of ten-round magazines. None of your bans or other proposed laws would prevent mass shootings.

“Federal action is essential to tackling the epidemic of gun violence head-on, and whether it’s funding research into gun violence prevention, or pushing for universal background checks, or calling for a vote on the Assault Weapons Ban bill like we did today—as long as I’m in Congress, I’ll keep fighting to advance common-sense gun safety measures that will make our communities safer.” The federal government (and even states) are actually FORBIDDEN from in any way infringing on citizens’ right to bear arms. The 2nd amendment means you cannot legally restrict, limit or burden our ability to access, build, buy, possess, carry or lawfully use arms (ie, using them in self defense, protecting life, liberty and property from ALL who would threaten us). The only people who would be and are affected by those unconstitutional laws anyhow are the law abiding, who have no intention of hurting others! Criminals, by definition, violate your laws.

To be clear and factually accurate, there is no “epidemic” of gun violence. There were more murders with firearms per person a hundred years ago, before we added 300 million guns and 200 million more citizens. After that explosion of firearms ownership, according to you there should be even more murders, since guns are so ‘evil’ in your thinking.

There is nothing “common sense” about the authoritarian restrictions to our rights that you Leftist zealots embrace, and the gun control infringements you push are proven to be an absolute failure, exemplified by the fact you have passed 23,000 federal and state gun control laws, which do not work, and seek to pass ever more.

We will never allow universal background checks, as they require universal registration in order to ensure compliance, and that is barred by law by Congress. Numerous laws outlaw a national registry of guns or gun owners, for good reason, as confiscation historically follows registration in nations around the world and leftist authoritarian states like California. We won’t allow it nationwide. So fuck off with that noise!

Hear me, Patty? Fuck right off with that! Americans survived just fine without ANY background checks for over 200 years. In the few decades that NICS checks have been law, they have been totally ineffective, and over 50% of the recent mass shooters in the past decade in states like California, Colorado, Virginia, Minnesota all passed their background checks to secure their firearms legally before they went mental. They don’t predict future behavior or evil intent and are thus worthless!

Finally, Americans don’t want action, they deserve results, which are achieved by actually holding criminals accountable. When you severely punish evil deeds, when society consistently punishes those who hurt the innocent, the guaranteed accountability acts as a disincentive. The frequency of criminal behavior diminshes. You don’t punish the law abiding by disarming them, just because a few criminals misuse guns… You hang the criminals. Wise men have said the same since the 1700’s.

We must end Democrat soft-on-crime policies and return once again to harshly penalize murderers and rapists and thieves. Yet even when we legitimately hold criminals accountable again, we acknowledge that it is impossible to prevent all crime, as it is impossible to prevent evil. To make promises otherwise is to blatantly lie, which is the politician’s standard operating procedure.

Society cannot legislate morality, as democrats prove daily. Should someone choose to trade their life for another’s, they will have a decent chance to succeed in plans to commit murder, and the best way to mitigate that fact is for citizens to actively defend themselves. Police can at best arrive after the shooting has started, and contrary to lies told by government, police are secondary responders. You are each your own first responders.
